The American Society of Botanical Artists

The ASBA is a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting public awareness of contemporary botanical art, to honoring its traditions, and to furthering its development.

The Horticultural Society of New York

Founded in 1900, incorporated in 1902, the mission of The Horticultural Society of New York is to enhance the environmental and cultural life of all New Yorkers by providing community outreach, library resources, and art exhibitions that reveal the beauty and power of plants.

The Exhibition

The Thirteenth Annual ASBA/HSNY International Juried Botanical Art Exhibition showcases 41 works of art in traditional and contemporary styles by some of today’s finest botanical artists, chosen from nearly 200 submissions for this highly competitive exhibition.

Jody Williams: I am fascinated by the beauty, variety and intricacy of the botanical world. The colors, shapes, and patterns of flowers, leaves, and fruit have inspired artists and crafts people thoughout the ages and continue to inspire me. As a self-taught artist, photographer, designer and gardener, my favorite subjects are the ones that grow around me in nature or in one of my garden plots. Collecting and reading books about art and design, color theory and botanical illustration are favorite pastimes.
